How Do I Collect A Deposit?
Following a rental, you have the ability to collect a deposit from the renter for either the full amount or a partial amount of the total deposit. You are also able to provide a reason and add any photos of the damage. After requesting to collect the deposit, Spotz will review all of the information provided and facilitate the deposit collection.
How Do I Collect A Deposit?
- After a rental, the booking will remain on Spotz allowing you to review, refund, or collect a deposit on the rental. To collect a deposit, begin by viewing your reservations by clicking on Bookings in the upper left hand corner.
- On the Reservation page, change the date range to reflect recent past bookings that you would like to collect a deposit from.
- Now that your date range is set, you will see all of the recent reservations, internal and external. Scroll down to find the reservation that you would like to collect a deposit from. Once you find the booking you would like to collect a deposit from, click on Deposits.
- Once you click on Deposits you will be brought to the Collect Deposits screen. This is where you are able to select how much money you would like to collect from the deposit, upload a photo of any damages, and list a reason as to why you collect the deposit. Begin collecting your deposit by clicking the check box next to the deposit name. As soon as you click on the check box, a dollar amount will appear. This is where you can type in the amount of money to collect a partial deposit of the full amount.
- After you have selected an amount to collect, you may begin typing in the text box to provide a reason as to why you collected the deposit.
- The final item to do is attaching a photo (if applicable). For damages especially, it will be vital that you include a photo of any incidents to prove that the deposit you are collecting is warranted. Click on the plus icon to open up your computer's documents, than choose a picture of the incident. You will receive a prompt alerting you that your photo has been successfully uploaded.
- After you have uploaded your photo and finished inputting any additional details, click Collect to finish collecting the deposit. You will then receive one last prompt asking if you would like to submit the incident report to collect a deposit. Click Yes to continue. After selecting Yes, you will receive a green notification alerting you of your successful deposit request.Â
- Following your successful deposit request, you will receive an email with additional information regarding the request. The user has also received this information and has 7 days to offer a response. If and when the renter does respond, you will find their response by locating their reservation (Steps 1-3) and clicking Incident to bring up the Incident Report.
- You can respond to the renter by clicking Add Response and typing in your response to the incident.Â
- Once a Spotz admin member approves the incident and deposit amount, the renter's payment will be authorized and charged for the deposit amount.Â
